此环取材碧玉，局部带沁。扁平正圆形，内外缘有阴刻轮廓线，两面皆浅浮雕勾云纹，排布规整，造型古朴。此件玉环勾云线条流畅，弧线柔美，制器规整，布列整齐，穆穆之中彰显上古之风，抚之赏玩，令人心驰神往。据《尔雅·释器》，这类玉器以中心圆孔的大小来决定，大孔者为瑗，小孔者为璧，孔径与玉质部分边沿相等者为环。玉环古时一般用作佩饰，因“环”与“还”同音，古人还把它作为一种信物。据说古代逐臣待命于境，赐环则还，即如果得到天子送来的环，就知道自己收被重新召回，官复原职。
