大四件櫃又稱“頂箱櫃”，是非常實用的傢俱，成對陳設，頗有氣勢，所以又是使用者身份和地位的象徵。由於其體積碩大，壹般房舍難以容身。隨著社會的變遷，經常被拆散或改作它用，成對完整傳世極為難得，雕刻雲龍紋飾的更是屈指可數。
