民國三年版正面為袁世凱側面像,上列“中華民國三年”。“年”字後沒有“造”字,其他年版都在“年”字後面有壹“造”字。三年版“民”字中有壹“點”,而其他年版民字無“點”。鑄造量較少的版別有:“O”記版、粗發版、三角圓版、開口貝版、加鑄“甘肅”兩字版、背雙星版、大胡須版、大耳朵版等。民國三年(1914年),北洋軍閥政府正式鑄造袁世凱頭像銀幣,因幣上鑄有袁世凱側身頭像,故民間俗稱‘袁大頭’。錢面:袁世凱光頭側面像,上環“中華民國三年”。錢背:中間為壹圓,左右嘉禾環繞。
