高奇峰(1889--1933),"嶺南派"創始者"三傑"之一。少年時隨居氏及其父兄習畫,後東渡日本,對京都畫派中名家的技藝有極深入的研究。他把傳統的筆墨功夫,以及"撞水""撞粉"等花卉畫中的特殊技巧,運用於飛禽走獸和山水,達到形體逼真而又生氣勃勃的效果,構成了雄偉兼秀美的獨特風格,書法用筆老辣,功底深厚,自成一體,頗具影響。
本幅亦屬張坤儀一九三九年攜赴美國之重要嶺南派作品之一。畫上未署年,惟按早於一九三○年已在港滬兩地之雜誌刊登,可推知應屬當年初所寫。
Gao qifeng (1889--1933), one of the three founders of lingnan school. When he was a teenager, he studied painting with his father and brother, and later traveled to Japan. This painting is also one of the important works of lingnan school brought by zhang kunyi to the United States in 1939. It is not dated, but it was published in the magazines of Hong Kong and Shanghai as early as 1930. It can be inferred that it was written at the beginning of that year.
